How We Check Listings
What our public-source checks cover, what remains uncertain, and what to confirm yourself.
We help you explore services with a stated Kent connection. Some providers are based elsewhere, have uncertain local coverage, or remain listed with a historical or closure notice. We do not assess or endorse the quality of any provider. Always do your own checks before engaging any professional.
What "Listed on SENDPath" means
A SENDPath listing is a researched directory entry assembled from public sources. It does not mean the provider has approved the page or that SENDPath has vetted the service. Here is what our listing research is intended to cover:
- Found through public sources — professional directories, NHS service listings, Google, Kent County Council records, and other publicly available information.
- Compared published information — where accessible, we compare provider information and responsible public registers with the entry. A working website is not proof of a service’s quality. An inaccessible website is not evidence of closure.
- Written a short description — based entirely on publicly available information. We do not add claims that we cannot find evidence for.
- Dated the scope of the check — a source-review date records the stated information check, not clinical vetting or current availability. Older claims and unavailable current details are kept distinct.
What an older "Claimed" label means
Some existing pages may retain a "Claimed" label from an earlier contact workflow. It records that, at that time:
- A person representing the provider contacted SENDPath — to confirm, correct or update details held on the page.
- The supplied information was compared with public information — including the provider website and professional contact details where available.
This is not a verified-provider or quality badge. It does not establish current identity, competence, qualifications, registration, safeguarding status or quality of service. SENDPath is not accepting new listing claims during the current privacy hold.
What SENDPath does NOT do
We want to be upfront about the limits of what a directory can offer. SENDPath does not:
- Check professional registrations — we do not verify whether a provider is registered with the HCPC, SRA, BPS, or any other professional body. You should always check this yourself (links below).
- Verify insurance, DBS, or safeguarding status — we cannot confirm that a provider holds valid insurance, has current DBS checks, or meets safeguarding requirements.
- Endorse or recommend providers — being listed on SENDPath is not a recommendation. We do not rank providers by quality or suggest one provider over another.
- Guarantee accuracy — information can change. Providers move, close, change their services, or update their qualifications. We do our best to keep listings current, but always confirm details directly with the provider.
Check professional registers yourself
Before engaging any professional, we strongly recommend checking the relevant register. Here are the main ones for SEND services:
- HCPC Register (speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists) — www.hcpc-uk.org/check-the-register
- SRA Register (solicitors, including EHCP and SEND tribunal solicitors) — www.sra.org.uk/consumers/register
- BPS Directory (chartered psychologists, including educational psychologists) — www.bps.org.uk/find-psychologist
If a professional claims to be registered and you cannot find them on the relevant register, ask them directly. If you have concerns about a professional's conduct, you can raise them with the relevant regulatory body.
How providers can update their listing
New listing claims, new submissions and routine promotional updates are not available during the current privacy hold. If an existing listing contains an essential factual error or raises a privacy concern, email SENDPath's essential corrections route. Include the page URL and exact correction, use a professional email address where possible, and do not include any child's personal or health information.
Listings exist to help families find services. Providers cannot pay for placement, ranking, or favourable descriptions. Every listing follows the same standards.
