🗣️ Speech & Language Therapy (SALT)

Some autistic children benefit from SALT targeted to an assessed communication need. Frequency and goals should be agreed with an HCPC-registered speech and language therapist.

🤲 Occupational Therapy (OT)

Enter the frequency and price from an individual OT proposal. Scope, goals and any between-session activity should be agreed with the HCPC-registered therapist.

🧠 Educational Psychology (EP)

An EP report can provide useful independent evidence where cognition, learning or educational provision is disputed. It is not required in every EHCP or Tribunal case.

Disability Living Allowance (DLA)

Needs-based benefit for eligible children

The DWP assesses extra care and/or mobility needs against a non-disabled child of the same age. A diagnosis alone does not establish entitlement.

Therapy via EHCP

💡 Questions that may reduce avoidable cost

  • Check the NHS route first — ask the relevant NHS service or GP what is available locally, current eligibility and referral rules, and whether any patient-choice route applies to the service you need.
  • Ask about packages carefully — compare the total price with pay-as-you-go, and check cancellation, refund, expiry, and missed-session terms before paying upfront.
  • Compare delivery formats — ask whether online, in-person, group, parent-coaching, or school-based work is clinically suitable and request a quote for each suitable option.
  • Define the scope — confirm whether travel, observation, report writing, liaison, follow-up, VAT, and hearing attendance are included.
  • Avoid duplicated assessment — ask whether recent reports can be used and what specific evidence gap a new assessment would address.
  • Commission reports only where they address a real evidence gap — a private report may be considered in an EHCP appeal but does not guarantee provision or an outcome.
