Gather your supporting documents

School reports, SEN Support plans, speech therapy or OT reports, GP letters — attach everything you have. Don't have reports yet? You can still send the letter and ask the LA to commission assessments.

Send it — and keep a record

Use your local authority's current submission route and save the confirmation. In Kent, use KCC's online EHC needs-assessment request service. The authority must usually decide whether to assess within 6 weeks of receiving a valid request, subject to statutory exceptions.
