Gather your supporting documents

Use relevant, current school records, SEN Support plans and existing professional reports. Share only information needed for the request; a private report is not required. Don't have reports yet? You can still send the letter and ask the LA to commission assessments.

Send it — and keep a record

Use your local authority's current submission route and save the confirmation. In Kent, use KCC's online EHC needs-assessment request service. The authority must usually decide whether to assess within 6 weeks of receiving the request, subject to statutory exceptions.
